How does it work?
SES Water have a range of affordability schemes to help customers on low incomes afford their ongoing charges and repay their debt; we also have a priority services register which helps those most in need of extra support. We wish to deliver excellent customer experiences and our hard to reach projects form a big part of this.
The aim of these projects is to raise awareness and increase take up of our affordability support and priority services amongst those customers that need it most in our hard to reach areas. These areas are where we see typically lower engagement, but we know we have people who need extra support. As an organisation who supports these customers, we are eager for you to apply for specific project funding. Projects need to be detailed and show us how you plan to increase numbers on our schemes and priority services register. The project can run for up to 12 months. If you already receive funding from us then this project must go above and beyond the service and activities you already deliver as an organisation.
The following conditions apply to each project:
- Projects must be completed within the agreed timeframe
- Monthly updates must be provided to SES Water during the project with case studies demonstrating its success at the end of the project, where appropriate
- Engagement with social media where appropriate
- Clear demonstration of the funding required and how this will increase uptake to affordability schemes and our priority services register
- A clear focus of the project should be on increasing awareness and numbers on affordability schemes and priority services register
- Operating within the supply zone of SES water
How is the programme managed?
We’ve partnered with ActionFunder, to manage and facilitate this grant programme. Action Funder is a grant management platform revolutionising community investment. Built with funders and driven by AI, it streamlines the funding process delivering money directly into community projects.

How to apply
Click in the button below to apply and create a free profile on ActionFunder if you haven’t already registered. You will then need to create a project application outlining what you need the funding for and expected impact. Your project application will automatically be submitted to the relevant fund that it meets the eligibility criteria for which will include Better Futures.
Review and decision time
The closing date for project applications is 1 June 2026.
If you’re successful we’ll send you a funding invitation through ActionFunder, and you’ll be asked to provide some further due diligence information before the grant is transferred.
Please note: If you don’t hear from us that doesn’t mean you’re unsuccessful. Due to the volume of demand we may revisit your application at a future review. We will aim to decline any applications we can’t support on a regular basis at which point you’ll receive an email notification.
Sidenote: By maintaining a profile and project on ActionFunder, you'll automatically be notified of any other relevant funding opportunities from other funders.
